Contact Lenses from ages 6 to 86!

Disposable Contact Lenses | Rigid Contact Lenses | Ortho-K | Keratoconus | Multifocal Contact Lenses

Wearing contact lenses will open up all types of opportunities for you by removing the restriction of glasses. Almost anyone can wear contact lenses.

In 2010 we helped almost 2000 people aged from 6 to 78 achieve success with contact lenses. We have just as many people under 40 wearing contact lenses as over 40!

Gerry & Johnson Optometrists are at the forefront of contact lenses in Australia.

We use the latest designs and material to benefit the health of your eyes, and maximize your comfort and vision. We will always offer the best possible contact lens option for you. We also participate in clinical trials of new technology lenses before market release, so you can be one of the first people in Australia to wear particular lens, before anybody else!

Our Optometrists are award winning teachers of contact lenses to the next generation of Optometrists at the QUT School of Optometry.

We offer a full range of disposable contacts and custom lens designs in order to successfully fit almost all people. So whether you need correction for astigmatism, reading glasses, bifocals, distance sight or more complicated cases such as keratoconus or post surgical corneas, contact lenses are a viable choice for you.

Your options may include:

Disposable contact lenses

We have a full range of leading disposable lens products from the major manufacturers and we regularly trial new products before market release. Our range includes daily disposables, two weekly disposables, monthly disposable and custom conventional lenses, to correct short-sightedness (myopia), long-sightedness (hyperopia) and astigmatism.

Multifocal contact lenses for reading vision

Is your reading vision blurry? Contact lenses now allow clear distance and near vision, at the same time! These options are available in both soft and rigid lens modalities. Gerry & Johnson Optometrists is a recognised leader in fitting contact lenses for reading vision, and we have fit just as many people under 40 as people over 40 successfully with contact lenses.

Rigid gas permeable (RGP) lenses

Fitting and prescribing RGP lenses is regarded as an area of specialty practice and at Gerry & Johnson Optometrists, we our proud to offer these lens designs. We design custom lenses using corneal topography which allows for precise lens fitting and accurate management.

RGP lenses allow for superior vision and eye health outcomes and are used specifically for Keratoconus and Ortho-K (orthokeratology).

The image above demonstrates the process of fitting a custom designed lens using software based mapping of the cornea (topography). The green zones indicate areas of tear flow which are replicated when the real lens is placed on the eye.

The contact lens design process

We have a range of specialty lenses for specific applications such as Ortho-K, Keratoconus, post-surgery eyes and more.

Ortho-K – correct your vision while you sleep!

Have you considered laser surgery? Or had problems with contact lens comfort? Do you want to do something active to stop your child’s shortsightedness getting worse?

Imagine clear vision without contact lenses or glasses during the day! Ortho-K – also called Orthokeratology, Corneal Refractive Therapy or CRT – involves wearing custom designed RGP contact lenses while you sleep, which gently change the shape of the eye surface overnight using your tears.

When you remove the lenses in the morning you can see clearly all day long without the need for glasses or contact lenses!
